So, I have a question. What do you guys know 'bout smoking Hookah/Sheesha? Yea, I smoke it now and then, and since moving to NYC, more so now than nethng. I've heard a lot of mixed things and wanted to get this straight. Is it or is it not allowed and what does each entail? I'd appreciate wutever u could give me!

I heard it's the same as smoking.. but then, the tobacco content is SO small compared to ciggies.. hmm, im not too sure, I'm not a scholar and my nafs is telling me that it's ALLL about cherry flavored sheesha..

The Hanafi 'Ulema from the subcontinent have a split opinion on this matter.
They say that if something is:
1. Intoxicating
2. Addictive
3. Detrimental to one's health
Than it is haraam.
For this reason, smoking is haraam. However, unlike cigarettes, sheesha is neither intoxicating or addictive and it is really not clear whether it is detrimental to one's health or not.
It is, however, deemed makruh and makruh means minorly sinful.
zahera: yea, smoking too much sheesha kinda makes u lite headed sometimes. But i don't know if that considered intoxication in the sense of khamar, for example, as wine is...mmmm but thanx for ur opinion! every bit does help.
